A couple of weeks ago a freind told me how she was thinking of joining this funny sounding eastern type religion that sounded more like a cult that anything else.
She knows i'm a christian but she still talks to me about anything. I'm not one to push my faith onto other people. Just try to live by exsample and answer questions when they arise.
I told her what i thought of this other religion, and why i thought what i did.
After the conversation, i prayed for her. It was great that she was now searching.I prayed that God would make this other religion look undesirable to her and that God would show it for what it really is. and at the same time, draw her closer to him.
I remembered a book i had when i first became a christian called "Finding Faith". It was written in the late 70's - early 80's and i hadn't seen it since anywhere else. It's an excellent book, very simply outlining why we need God [for adults]. Simple but full of impact! Perfect for my freind :o)
It was in my bedroom but my bedroom looks like a candidate for the TV show,"How Clean Is Your House?" lol It is sooooo cluttered we are talking boxes on boxes of junk. It's outta site, outta mind. I had a rough idea of where it was and i looked but i couldn't find it. I prayed really hard that God would help me find it but it just wasn't turning up. It was late so i did what i had to do and went to bed.
When i got up the morning, I had to get ready to go into town but i prayed about it some more and had another look. And i still didn'y find it!
Well we went out to do the shopping etc and i asked Johnny if we could just pop into the Salvation Army store to find God based kids books for the Christian gift & book shop run from our church. He didn't want to [as most men don't like op shopping] and normaly i wouldn't preasure him to do it, but today i did. I don't know why, i just "told" him we were going to look.
So we get in there to have a look and guess what i found in amoungst the kids books??? You guessed it, the Finding Faith book!! Well i just picked it up, held it to me and said softly over and over, "Thank you God". I might have looked a bit silly, but frankly i just didn't think of that. I was just sooooo grateful and really felt so awesomely blessed!!!
He answered my prayer. Not in the way i expected, but just as faithfully :o)) I am still in awe over that!
I gave it to my freind and made her promise she'd read it.
Then she came to womens group that is based at our church as we were having a bit of fun with line dancing one night. Before she got there i prayed that when she walked into the church, she would just really feel the peaceful presence of God and be drawn to it. Some freinds prayed for her at a bible study too. She came and had a great time. She told me on the phone that she loved our church group so much that it made her want to move to our area. She said the people were the nicest group of people she'd ever met and felt really at home! Excellent!
Then a few days later she went to this other religious group thing and she said it really upset her and it wasn't at all what she expected. It actualy made her feel depressed and she cried :o(
Well thats excellent too because that's exsactly what i prayed for. I don't want her to be sad of course! I just want her to know the truth, as does God :o)
